Meet Sprout, she is a Little Owl. This crochet pattern was inspired by Travelling Ava’s visit to Thirsk Bird of Prey Centre. She got to see a lot of amazing birds but her favourite was a Little Owl called Sprout. Sprout is a small owl but tough just like Ava.

Below you will find a list of the equipment you will need and a copy of the pattern with instructions on how to assemble your very own Sprout the Owl.

This pattern is made using Stylecraft Special DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook. This crochet pattern is written using UK crochet terminology.

This pattern is worked using the amigurumi method. It starts with a foundation chain for the body and stitches are worked either side of the chain. Work stitches continuously in a spiral without closing off each round with a slip stitch.

Sprout is approximately 8cm tall.

You could try making Sprout with different types of yarn and hook sizes if you want a bigger or smaller owl. I also think this size would be good to turn into a Christmas decoration for the tree or you could fill it with lavender to make a cute decoration for your bedroom.

Sprout could be made using brighter colours too. I do want to make one in Grey’s and blues. I also want to do a super chunky version. This pattern is great to use up small amounts of yarn in your stash.
